ALERT

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

One in three teens in the US will experience physical, sexual, or emotional abuse from someone they’re in a relationship with before they become adults, and nearly half (43%) of college women report experiencing violent or abusive dating behaviors. Every February, young people and their loved ones join together across the country for a national effort to raise awareness about the issue of teen dating violence through Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM).

February: Celebrating Black History Month

Black History Month is a federally recognized celebration of the contributions African Americans have made to this country. It is also a time to reflect on the need to continue the fight for justice for people of color. In February 1926, Carter G. Woodson started the celebration of "Negro History Week", the second week in February. President Gerald Ford officially recognized Black History Month in 1976.
